Pack die Badehose ein. Nein! Eigentlich müsste es hier besser heißen, nimm das Bandana und das Skateboard in die Hand und wir starten eine fette Party. Die Idole meiner Jugend haben sich mal wieder im Studio versammelt gehabt, um einen neuen Silberling aus den Rippen zu pressen und die Fangemeinde zu erfreuen.
Seit 1982, sprich 34 Jahren!, gibt es nun SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, welche in einer WG in Venice Beach gegründet wurde von Mike Muir, der als einziges Gründungsmitglied noch am Board ist. In den 80iger Jahren brachte die Band so einige Skater-Hymnen wie „I Saw Your Mommy“ oder „Possesed To Skate“. Wer kennt diese Sounds nicht, die über Schürfwunden, ausgeschlagene Zähne oder gar Knochenbrüche hinwegtrösteten.
In der 34jährigen Bandgeschichte hat die Band schon so manchen Line-up Wechsel gesehen. Der neueste Zugang ist Dave Lombardo, der schon bei SLAYER, GRIP Inc. und FANTOMAS für den richtigen Sound sorgte und auch hier sehr facettenreich sein künstlerisches Können an den Mann bringt.
Beim Opener „Clap Like Ozzy“ ist der Name Programm, denn der Song startet brutal und schlägt direkt auf die Zwölf. New Generation handelt von der respektlosen jungen Generation. Hier liefern sich die stakkatomässigen druckvollen Drums ein Wettrennen mit den Gitarren. Wundervolle Tempowechsel runden den Song ab. „Living For Live“ beginnt zunächst sehr langsam, nimmt dann aber gewaltig Speed auf. „Get Your Fight“ on ist ein eher ruhiges, balladeskes Stück, welches dann in der Mitte des Stücks am Teller dreht und den Speedregler hochschiebt. „World Gone Mad!“ ist ein sehr grooviges Stück, welches sich schnell zu einem Ohrwurm entwickelt. „Happy Never After“ stampft und kratzt an den Nerven mit seinen Gitarrenriffs. „One Finger Salute zeigt das „Punk Never Dies“, denn es geht straight durch und Dave Lombardo malträtiert die Felle, was das Zeug hält.
Alles im Allen ist das neue Album der Kalifornier sehr abwechslungsreich und besticht durch Spielfreude. Ich freue mich auch schon auf die Live-Konzerte, die demnächst in den heimischen Konzerthallen stattfinden. Also, haltet die Augen auf!
